It's So Easy To Fall In Love

Wow!  The more these musicians, actors and filmmakers speak out, the easier it becomes for me to decide who I will and will not buy from, watch or listen to.  The latest Great American Hatriot is Linda Ronstadt.
I've been aware for some time that her views were basically left of center on political issues.  I was unaware how badly this poor woman needed another stint in detox.  Her recent behavior has been, shall we say, veddy interesting.....
The San Diego Union Tribune writes of her recent eviction from a Las Vegas nightclub where she performed.
Ronstadt, 58, ....  finds her fans are polarized by her nightly on-stage salute to "Fahrenheit 9/11" filmmaker Michael Moore.

She dedicated the old Eagles song "Desperado" to The Round Mound of Nothing Profound, Michael Moore and had several people boo her and walk out.  The latter I find acceptable and would probably have joined in.  The former has no place in polite society.
"I've been dedicating a song to him – I think he's a great patriot – and it splits the audience down the middle, and they duke it out," she said.

Which probably explains her getting tossed out on to the cold, hard Vegas Strip.  I felt a little sorry for her and perhaps figured the club manager had overreated until I read further and saw that she had this to offer the public.
"This is an election year, and I think we're in desperate trouble and it's time for people to speak up and not pipe down. It's a real conflict for me when I go to a concert and find out somebody in the audience is a Republican or fundamental Christian. It can cloud my enjoyment. I'd rather not know."
In conclusion, I'll help Linda avoid these painful conflicts and never spend a dime on one of her records.  I'll make it a point of turning the radio channel so that I don't here the ads that come on after she gets air play either.
It's a real conflict for me when a talented musician turns out to be such a short-sighted, small-minded trolladytic jerk.

As you may or may not already be aware, members of the Watcher's Council hold a vote every week on what they consider to be the most link-worthy pieces of writing around... per the Watcher's instructions, I am submitting one of my own posts for consideration in the upcoming nominations process.
Here is the most recent winning council post, here is the most recent winning non-council post, here is the list of results for the latest vote, and here is the initial posting of all the nominees that were voted on.
